The first mug design I did for the Royal Kona Resort’s lobby restaurant / bar & the last working “Don the Beachcomber”, residing in beautiful Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
This mug's extremely rare; it's been forever out of circulation & out of stock for quite a while now.
One of the last specimens of this mug design I have in my studio, and the only one left with this popular hand-painted color scheme created by fellow Big Island artist Jacob Medina.
It's a real one-of-a-kind exquisite example of pop-culture / lowbrow / tiki art from the Big Island of Hawaii.
This mug was knocked around on a trip a couple years back. It developed a few cracks so I pulled it out of the roster of sale items. I revitalized it & placed this gorgeous piece in my private mug collection. There it has sat ever since.
One my favorites! However, I’ve enjoyed this mug on my shelf long enough & now it’s time for it to go out into the world to find a new home. ( Plus, I have another one a lot like it already & I need more shelf space! )
If you dig this rare classic “Don the Beachcomber • Hawaii” mug design, & admire this uniquely artistic paint job (plus you don’t mind that it’s got some history & a few travel miles on it) this is the mug for you!
